Supporting Local Artists in Vancouver

Over the years, The NAAM has been supporting local artists by displaying their work on our walls in art shows that rotate every six weeks.  We are currently booked until Fall 2017 but if you are interested in exhibiting your work, please call Anne in the NAAM office at 604-738-7180
Current Exhibit
Mary Bennett, 'It May Be a Sign'
February 28th to May 2nd
Mary Bennett is a mixed media artist, community builder and active citizen in Vancouver BC. Initially inspired by a CBC interview with paleo-anthropologist Genevieve von Petzinger, Mary created the pieces shown now in her most recent exhibit, 'Signs'. In addition to exploring the connections between maps, symbols and the 32 universal signs studied by von Petzinger, Mary also incorporates the labyrinth images that have been a component of many of her previous works. By utilizing different textures and tools, Mary is able to use these 'Signs' to illustrate modern humans' primal connection to geometic cave etchings created over 100,000 years ago. Though some larger pieces in this show were displayed at the Artists in Our Midst Roundhouse opening, Mary has also incorporated many smaller, more intimate, works.
